Study on Fast Contamination Characteristics of Cap and Pin Insulators in Straight Flow Wind Tunnel Simulation

Artificial simulation of rapid insulator contamination can obtain the characteristics suspension insulators in a short time, providing important reference for electrical design, operation and maintenance external insulation. To closer to those under natural environment, this paper proposed test method artificial using characteristic parameters straight-flow wind tunnel, carried out cap pin different speeds, directions, duration contaminant concentrations. The results showed that with speed increasing from 2.2 m/s 7.5 m/s, degree surface gradually increased firstly then decreased, reached maximum near 4.5 m/s. With increase concentration, increased, tended be saturated when dust spreading was 54 g/min. extension duration, accumulation on slow initial stage, accelerated middle slowed down later stage. Under same conditions, standard, double-shed triple-shed presented high-to-low equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) successively their top bottom surfaces, ratios ESDD surfaces were 1:1.20:0.9 1:0.63:0.53, respectively.
